Customer Intake for a Ceramic Coating Job

Collect the surface history, owner priorities and practical care information needed to build an accurate coating proposal.

Understand the vehicle and the goal

Ask about previous repairs, polishing, coatings and maintenance products. Identify film, wraps, matte finishes and aftermarket components. Record the owner’s priorities: appearance, easier washing, a specific product system or a practical daily-driver finish.

Ask where the car is parked, how it is washed and how soon it needs to return to use. Those details affect product choice and the feasibility of aftercare.

Inspect and document

Use photographs and a written panel record, then reassess after cleaning if dirt hides the finish. Note chips, scratches, staining and uncertain repairs. Explain which defects can reasonably be improved and which need a separate repair or should remain.

Do not equate an owner’s preference for maximum gloss with permission for unlimited clear-coat removal.

Agree on the scope

Record products, surfaces, preparation, expected results and collection timing. Clarify additional-work approval and provide the applicable care requirements before installation. Where certification or warranty registration is required, include those steps explicitly. A complete intake reduces misunderstandings and helps make the final handover a comparison against an agreed result rather than a new conversation about expectations.
