A vehicle with paint and paint-protection film needs a job record that preserves the distinction between those surfaces. A generic note saying ceramic coating applied may be insufficient for later maintenance or repair questions. Record the treatment by zone.
Identify fully and partially covered panels, known film details and visible boundaries. Record unknown film information for clarification. Include repaired paint or replacement panels where relevant. Do not assume that every clear film has the same finish or approved care requirements.
Record product selection and the current instructions used for each confirmed surface. Identify exclusions and any area awaiting compatibility review. For example, a front bumper with film and adjacent painted trim should not be treated as one undifferentiated area in the record.
At handover, give the owner a clear description of what was treated. If film is replaced later, the workshop can then distinguish the new surface from the original installation. Keep product identity, relevant dates and document references together. The record should support future decisions without making the owner memorize technical details. Its value is traceability: another technician should be able to understand the mixed-surface scope before recommending cleaning, repair or additional protective treatment.
Use the film identity where known, installation history, edge condition and approved care information alongside the paint record. Identify whether the customer wants both surfaces treated and whether the proposed product is confirmed for each.
At the boundary, document which process applies and how the final appearance will be assessed. Do not let a single vehicle-level product field conceal different treatments. If film history is unknown, preserve that uncertainty instead of guessing from appearance. The finished job record should let a future technician identify what was applied to the film and what was applied to paint, especially after a panel repair or film replacement changes only part of the vehicle.
