Practical approach
Record sample preparation and ask the laboratory to explain analysis depth and interpretation.
A surface treatment can change an XPS result without establishing the composition of material deeper below it.
Decision limits
Do not compare surface atomic percentages directly with a formulation's bulk weight percentages as if they were the same measurement.
