ISO 14001 addresses environmental management systems. A certificate referencing it does not automatically substantiate a claim that a particular coating is biodegradable, harmless or environmentally preferable in every use.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge
ISO describes the standard as a framework for environmental management, without prescribing specific product-level performance criteria. A coating buyer should therefore distinguish organizational evidence from the evidence required for a specific product statement. Broad environmental wording needs a clearly defined subject and a relevant basis.
Illustrative example: a distributor wants to describe a coating as biodegradable because a manufacturing organization has an environmental-management certificate. The certificate does not answer the biodegradability question. The claim needs suitable product-specific evidence and appropriate review before it appears on packaging or a website.
This guide does not assert any certification or environmental characteristic for NANOLAB. Avoid extending a verified organizational statement beyond its scope. Where a claim has legal or regulatory implications, the responsible parties should review the actual evidence and applicable wording requirements.
