Design a Coating Booking Form That Captures Surface History

Ask about repainting, films and existing treatments so the workshop can scope inspection properly.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A coating booking form should reveal information that changes the inspection or job scope. It is not a substitute for seeing the vehicle, but it can prevent the workshop from planning around an incomplete history. Ask questions that customers can answer without technical guesswork.

Capture known surface history

Ask about repainting, body repairs, paint-protection film, wraps and previous protective treatments. Allow the customer to mark a detail as unknown. Request available invoices or product names only when they are relevant and easy to provide. A remembered brand name should be treated as a lead for clarification, not definitive proof of the current surface condition.

Identify inspection flags

Ask which appearance issues concern the customer and whether any area has behaved differently during cleaning. Invite useful photographs while explaining that final scope depends on inspection. Avoid asking the customer to decide whether a mark is in the coating or the underlying finish.

Pass the information to the workshop

For example, partial PPF on the front of a vehicle should be visible in the job notes rather than buried in a booking email. Assign staff to verify the history on arrival and update the surface map. Keep the form focused on decisions that affect the work. The goal is a better prepared inspection and quotation, not an unnecessarily long questionnaire.

Booking-form fields that prevent a bad starting assumption

Ask whether the vehicle has been repainted, wrapped, fitted with PPF, previously coated or recently repaired. Include unknown as an answer. Request the customer's main appearance and maintenance priorities and a route for uploading relevant photographs.

Do not make the customer diagnose paint chemistry or choose a correction process from a dropdown. The form gathers history; inspection determines the actual work. Flag answers that require discussion before confirming the appointment. For example, a newly repaired panel may change the planned sequence or require guidance from the repairer. Keep the booking confirmation clear about what is provisional so an online reservation does not become an unsupported promise about compatibility or completion time.
