Coating Filling Records: Keep Reworked Packs Separate from First-Pass Output

A finished pack that passed after rework has a different process history from one accepted immediately. Preserve that distinction when analysing filling performance and investigating later packaging issues.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

The final accepted quantity is useful for inventory, while first-pass output helps assess process stability and workload. Rework records should identify the approved action and the final acceptance check without treating the unit as a new unrelated pack.

Practical checks

  1. Define first-pass acceptance and authorized rework.
  2. Link reworked units to their original run.
  3. Report final yield and first-pass results separately.

Example

Illustrative example: a run produces 500 accepted packs, including 25 that required an approved label correction. Reporting 500 first-pass packs would hide the extra work and its cause.

Scope and limits

Do not invent a rework method or return questionable packs to saleable stock without the required release. Use the approved product and packaging process.
