Coating Stock Age: Separate Manufacture Age from Time in Your Warehouse

A bottle received yesterday may have been manufactured earlier. Track manufacture information and warehouse receipt separately when the product's storage or remaining-life requirements make both relevant.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

Receipt age describes your local inventory history; product age relates to the supplier's documented basis. Neither should replace the other silently in stock planning. If a date or interpretation is missing, obtain clarification rather than assuming the receipt date starts the product's life.

Practical checks

  1. Record the supplied date information exactly.
  2. Keep receipt and manufacture-related fields distinct.
  3. Use the product's approved storage and life instructions for release planning.

Example

Illustrative example: a distributor sorts stock only by arrival date and overlooks an older production batch received later. The local sequence does not necessarily reflect the product's relevant age.

Scope and limits

Do not create an expiry date from an unsupported assumption. The exact supplier documentation and commercial requirements govern the usable-life interpretation.
