A mass value and a force value should not share an unexplained load label. Clarify how the test apparatus defines its load before comparing abrasion or scratch reports.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge
Under standard gravity, one kilogram corresponds to approximately 9.807 newtons of weight force. The apparatus may apply force through a mechanism, so its documented method remains necessary.
Arithmetic example: a 100-gram mass has a weight force of about 0.981 newtons under standard gravity. That does not prove that every test fixture transfers exactly that force to the specimen.
Do not improvise weights or modify a tester from this calculation. Use the instrument's approved setup and preserve the complete method when comparing coating results.
