Coating Support Response Time: Separate Acknowledgement from a Useful Technical Reply

An automated acknowledgement and a useful technical response are different events. Measure them separately if the aim is to understand how quickly customers receive actionable coating support.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

Define what qualifies as a substantive reply, including requests for essential missing information. A fast acknowledgement can help set expectations, but it should not be reported as resolution or as completed technical assessment.

Practical checks

  1. Record acknowledgement and substantive-response timestamps separately.
  2. Use a consistent working-hours or elapsed-time basis.
  3. Review unanswered cases alongside completed responses.

Example

Illustrative example: every enquiry receives an immediate automated message, while technical replies arrive later. Reporting only the automated response would conceal the customer's actual wait for help.

Scope and limits

Do not rush an uncertain recommendation to improve a timing metric. Product identity, surface information and qualified escalation still govern the quality of the response.
