Coating Test Certificates: Read the Scope of Accreditation

A laboratory's accreditation does not automatically cover every test it offers or every claim made from its results. The relevant scope matters.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Verify the laboratory identity, method and current accreditation scope with the issuing body where accreditation is required. Ask how subcontracted work is identified.

A laboratory may perform one accredited measurement and another method outside that scope in the same project.

Decision limits

Do not reproduce an accreditation symbol as a blanket product certification. Report the status of the specific work accurately.
