Gloss Meter Calibration Tiles: Protect the Reference Surface

A dirty or scratched reference tile can affect subsequent instrument checks. Reference care should follow the instrument supplier's method.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Keep the tile protected, inspect it before use and use only the approved cleaning procedure. Record suspected damage rather than polishing it experimentally.

Fingerprints on a reference can compromise a comparison even when the test panels themselves are carefully cleaned.

Decision limits

Do not treat a successful electronic calibration message as proof that the physical reference is sound. Resolve visible reference problems first.
