Ceramic Coating Gloss Claims: Report the Baseline Finish

A final gloss number has limited meaning without the starting finish and preparation process. Paint correction may account for much of the observed change.

Practical approach

Measure the relevant stages separately under the same method: initial condition, prepared surface and completed coating system.

Comparing an unpolished vehicle with a polished and coated vehicle cannot isolate the coating's contribution to appearance.

Decision limits

Do not attribute every before-and-after improvement to the last product applied. Describe the complete process and the limits of the comparison.
