Washing PPF Edges Without Encouraging Lifting
Clean around PPF seams and edges with controlled water direction, suitable wash media and inspection of any existing lifting.

PPF edges need deliberate washing technique because they form a boundary between film, adhesive and the surrounding surface. The aim is to remove dirt without forcing water or tools underneath that boundary.
Inspect before washing
Look for lifted edges, damage and trapped dirt while the vehicle is cool. If an edge is already lifting, avoid treating it as ordinary grime. Photograph the area and ask the installer how to proceed.
Respect the installation’s first-wash instructions. If a ceramic coating was added, follow the compatible care sequence for both systems.
Control water and tool contact
Follow the film and washing-equipment instructions for pressure, distance and nozzle use. Avoid directing a concentrated jet into an edge or seam. A general pressure number alone does not make every nozzle angle and distance safe.
Use clean, suitable wash media with gentle contact. Do not drag a stiff brush along the film boundary or pick debris out with a hard object. Rinse thoroughly so cleaner does not remain concentrated in the seam.
Check the result after drying
Dry with suitable clean materials and inspect edges without pulling on them. If a dark line remains, determine whether it is surface contamination or material beneath the edge before escalating cleaning.
