Cleaning a Dirt Line Along Partial PPF Coverage
Assess a dark line at a partial PPF boundary and clean gently without picking at the edge or forcing contaminants underneath it.

A partial PPF boundary can become more visible when dirt collects along the edge. Before cleaning, distinguish surface residue from contamination beneath lifting film. Those situations require different responses.
Inspect the boundary on a cool vehicle
Look at the line under suitable light and photograph it before treatment. Check for lifting, tears and accumulated residue. Do not run a fingernail or hard tool underneath the film to find out how firmly it is attached.
If the edge is damaged or visibly lifting, contact the installer before trying stronger cleaning.
Clean using an approved gentle process
Pre-rinse loose contamination and use a film-compatible cleaner as directed. Work with clean soft media, controlling movement so it does not snag the edge. Avoid concentrated pressure directed into the boundary.
Rinse thoroughly and dry carefully. Inspect again before repeating the process. Persistent material below the edge is not an invitation to peel the film back and clean underneath it.
Prevent repeated accumulation
Include the boundary in routine visual checks and remove surface dirt before it becomes heavily compacted. Keep waxes, polishing residue and unsuitable toppers from collecting along the line.
If the appearance remains unacceptable, discuss the coverage and edge condition with the installer. A ceramic coating cannot hide a poorly positioned or damaged film boundary. Review coverage planning and PPF edge washing when planning future care or replacement, including any compatible NANOLAB protection.
