Revising a Paint-Correction Quote After the First Wash

Washing can reveal a different correction scope from the one visible at intake. Agree how the workshop will handle that change before machine work begins.

Separate the estimate from the assessed plan

Record what could and could not be inspected on the dirty vehicle. Explain which part of the initial quotation depends on a cleaned inspection or test area. Avoid describing an unwashed assessment as a complete defect survey.

Show the changed information

After cleaning, document newly visible marks, repairs or fragile areas. Explain which operation changes and why: extra refinement, a reduced correction scope or referral of a failing panel. Keep the reason connected to photographs and the test result.

Obtain a concrete decision

Present the revised work, price and timing through the workshop’s normal approval process. Continue only within the agreed scope. If the customer declines, hand over the completed preparation and the remaining options clearly rather than quietly adding work or chasing the original promise.

Frequently asked question

Should extra polishing automatically be included when hidden defects appear?

The agreed service determines that. Make the newly assessed scope explicit before doing additional work.
