Reflection Haze and Transmission Haze: Choose the Right Optical Question

Reflection haze concerns the reflected image; transmission haze concerns light passing through a material. They address different appearance questions.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Specify whether the application is opaque paint, transparent glass or another construction, then select the relevant method.

A coating on glass may need assessment through the pane as well as in reflection.

Decision limits

Do not use a reflection-haze result alone to certify the optical clarity of a transparent assembly.
