Coating Optical Tests: Separate Transmission from Image Sharpness

The amount of transmitted light and the sharpness of an image viewed through a material are different properties.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Define which optical outcome matters and request the corresponding measurement method.

A sample may transmit substantial light while still reducing the clarity of a viewed object.

Decision limits

Do not describe high transmission alone as proof that a treated lens, screen or glazing assembly is optically suitable.
