On a multi-day correction job, a panel accepted after finish polishing can become contaminated or marked before delivery. Protecting that accepted state is part of the workflow. A finished panel should not become a convenient shelf or an unrecorded route for cables and towels.
Use a job map to distinguish corrected, refined, cleaned and accepted areas. Include retained defects and any surface still awaiting protection preparation. A simple status record prevents another technician from wiping or repolishing an area unnecessarily.
Keep the inspection photographs and the successful finishing method with the job. If the appearance changes later, there is a baseline for comparison.
Consider dust from adjacent correction, movement of equipment, other workshop operations and vehicle access. Store tools and materials away from paint and follow appropriate methods for protecting the vehicle without trapping contamination against the finish.
Do not assume that placing a cover on corrected paint is always harmless. Surface cleanliness, cover suitability and the way it is fitted and removed matter. Use the vehicle and product guidance and the workshop’s established controls.
Before coating preparation or delivery, inspect for new dust, smears and contact marks. Use a suitable cleaning method where required and then compare with the accepted reference. Do not automatically repeat finish polish because time has passed.
If a new mark appears, locate it and investigate the intervening contact. Separate a newly introduced defect from an original retained scratch or a different lighting view. Record any local rework and the reason for it.
Inspect the whole vehicle under consistent conditions after all panels are ready. A panel-by-panel record does not replace the final check for overall continuity, residue and missed areas.
The objective is to preserve accepted work and make any later change traceable. Good finish polishing includes what happens between the last machine pass and delivery, especially when the job spans several days and more than one person handles the vehicle.
