Contact-Angle Reports: Read Left and Right Angles Before Averaging

Unequal left and right drop profiles can signal a geometry or surface issue worth reviewing. An average can conceal that asymmetry.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Check levelling, image alignment, baseline selection and local surface condition under the instrument's method. Retain both readings where the software provides them.

A tilted or irregular specimen may give an asymmetric drop even when the material is nominally uniform.

Decision limits

Do not discard an inconvenient side solely to improve the result. Investigate the observation and apply the agreed analysis rule.
