Agree on what will be checked
An OEM coating programme should specify the product identity, intended surfaces and relevant acceptance criteria. Separate formulation measurements from application outcomes such as levelling and appearance. A number is useful only when the method and conditions are defined.
Do not use solids content as a substitute for a documented durability or film-thickness result.
Keep evaluation repeatable
Record sample identification, preparation, substrate, environmental conditions, application method and cure before assessment. Use comparable panels and procedures when reviewing later samples. Changes in the test surface or polishing process can otherwise be mistaken for formulation changes.
Document deviations and communicate them with clear observations rather than broad descriptions such as feels better.
Connect quality with support
Maintain batch records, packaging and storage information, and the applicable technical and safety documents. Define how a field issue is investigated using product identity, installation history and photographs. Training and aftercare should reflect the supplied formula.
