Combine existing ceramic coating with newly installed bonnet PPF by updating compatibility, timing and panel-specific aftercare instructions.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Adding PPF to the bonnet of an already coated car creates a mixed protection system. The bonnet’s preparation and care history changes, while the remaining panels may retain their original coating. Update the plan at the panel boundary.
Tell the PPF installer which coating and maintenance products were used. The installer should establish the film’s required bonding preparation. Do not assume that a coated panel is ready for adhesive film because it looks clean.
| Area | Instruction source |
|---|---|
| New bonnet film | Exact film’s installation and care requirements |
| Optional coating over film | Confirmed film-and-coating compatibility and sequence |
| Existing coated panels | Their current coating maintenance programme |
Film care can differ between product families. Use the instructions for the installed film instead of borrowing a waiting period from another product’s guide.
Review the film installation for unresolved edges, contamination or other issues. A coating should not be used to conceal an installation defect. Confirm the film is ready for the selected treatment and whether its finish is glossy, matte or satin.
The owner needs one usable instruction that respects the most relevant restrictions for the newly treated area. Explain how to handle the bonnet edges and any temporary limitations. Avoid issuing two contradictory aftercare cards without reconciling them.
For illustration, the rest of the vehicle may be ready for routine maintenance while the new bonnet film remains within its initial care period. The service plan should protect the bonnet rather than assuming the whole car has one installation date.
Keep film brand, product, installer and date alongside any coating applied over it. If the bonnet film is replaced later, its coating history changes again. Do not interpret different water behaviour between film and paint as proof of failure without considering the two surfaces.
The result is a mixed system with a clear map, not a confusing collection of product names.

Ask NANOLAB about your surface and intended use. For application and care, use the current instructions for the exact product.
