Choosing a Ceramic Coating for Coloured Paint Protection Film

Coloured paint protection film combines a protective film surface with a visible colour and finish. A coating decision must therefore consider both material compatibility and appearance. Do not assume that a product approved for glossy clear film is automatically suitable for every coloured, satin or textured film.

Identify the exact film

Obtain the film details from the installer and check its care instructions. Record whether the finish is gloss, satin, matte or another texture. Identify any areas containing a different film or ordinary exposed paint so the vehicle is not treated as one uniform surface.

Use satin-finish coating tests to plan the observation. A change that looks attractive to one person may be unacceptable when the owner wants the original film appearance preserved.

Keep application and future care consistent

Follow the approved preparation, application and cure instructions. Control product around edges and avoid aggressive correction of a finish that should not be polished. Record the film and coating combination at handover.
