A full polishing range.
From cutting and one-step correction to final finishing.
Keep haze, water behaviour, cleanability and damage separate when assessing coatings so a composite score cannot conceal a serious weakness.

A single coating score can make a comparison easy to read while hiding the reason a product is unsuitable. A formula with excellent slickness but unacceptable haze should not win because the slickness score compensates for an optical failure.
Mandatory requirements are conditions the intended job must satisfy, such as finish compatibility and acceptable dry appearance. Preferences help choose between products that already meet those requirements, such as packaging convenience or modest differences in working time. Write this distinction before assigning weights.
| Outcome | Suggested treatment in the decision |
|---|---|
| Incompatible with the required finish | Stop selection for that use |
| Unacceptable persistent haze | Investigate; do not average away |
| Good appearance with slower application | Evaluate the operational trade-off |
| Different water behaviour | Interpret with cleaning and exposure records |
Show each product’s appearance, application effort, cleanability and maintenance history in separate columns. Include variability and missing observations. A total score may then be useful for a specific buyer, but it should never replace the profile.
Product A scores nine for slickness and four for appearance. Product B scores seven in both categories. An equal-weight total makes them look close. If appearance below six is unacceptable for the intended service, A is not an eligible choice regardless of its total. The threshold is an example chosen for the decision, not a universal coating standard.
The same principle applies to failure counts. Combining packaging leaks, application errors and cleaning complaints into one rate can obscure different causes and remedies. Keep both the overall workload and the separate categories available.
State which use case the recommendation addresses and which requirements drove it. A mobile detailer, glass factory and retail brand may value different operational characteristics. Avoid presenting their preferences as universal chemistry rankings.
When a coating fails one important criterion, investigate that criterion directly. Another excellent result can support a different use, but it cannot cancel the failure that matters here.
