Coating Support Knowledge Articles: Link Them to the Product Revision They Cover

A support article should identify the product versions and situations it addresses. A generally useful answer can become misleading if it remains attached to a changed formulation or application system without review.

The key distinction

Keep a controlled relationship between the article and its source instructions. When the source changes, assess which support answers are affected rather than assuming that the old wording still applies.

Practical checks

  1. Record the product scope and source-document revision.
  2. Assign an owner for technical review.
  3. Update or clearly qualify affected articles when the product information changes.

Example

Illustrative example: a support answer describes an older application sequence, while newly supplied bottles use updated instructions. The knowledge article needs review before staff continue sending it to every customer.

Scope and limits

Do not replace product-specific requirements with a generic troubleshooting page. The current approved documentation remains the basis for application and any technical correction.
