Coating Support Templates: Keep Product-Specific Fields Explicit

A response template can improve consistency if its product-specific fields are completed and checked. It becomes risky when staff send generic timing or compatibility statements that belong to another coating.

The key distinction

Design the template around verified identity, relevant instructions and the customer's actual question. Leave uncertain fields unresolved rather than filling them with a familiar default. A template should support judgement, not replace it.

Practical checks

  1. Require the exact product and relevant revision.
  2. Identify fields that must come from current documentation.
  3. Review the completed response before sending technical guidance.

Example

Illustrative example: a template contains a curing interval from an earlier product. Copying it into a new case without verification can give the customer incorrect instructions despite a professional-looking message.

Scope and limits

Do not automate a recommendation beyond the evidence available. Escalate unusual surfaces or conflicting documents through the established technical-support route.
