Coating Quotes in Square Feet and Square Metres: Convert the Area and Rate Together

An area rate must be compared on the same unit basis. Converting the surface quantity while leaving the quoted rate unchanged can create a substantial pricing error.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

One square metre is approximately 10.764 square feet. Keep the original quotation and show the conversion explicitly so the total remains consistent. The work scope and included services must also match.

Practical checks

  1. Identify the area unit used in each quotation.
  2. Convert the quantity and corresponding rate consistently.
  3. Recalculate the total as a cross-check.

Example

Arithmetic example: a hypothetical rate of 2 per square foot is about 21.53 per square metre. Applying the original rate of 2 to a square-metre quantity would not preserve the quotation.

Scope and limits

These are unit conversions, not NANOLAB prices. Confirm currency, tax treatment, preparation and the number of treated faces before deciding that one coating proposal is cheaper than another.
