Bulk Coating Project Budgets: Separate One-Time and Repeat Costs

Setup costs and repeat production costs behave differently as volume changes. Keeping them separate improves comparisons.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Identify artwork, tooling or initial qualification costs separately from material, filling and recurring packaging.

A first order may cost more per unit because it carries setup work that will not recur unchanged.

Decision limits

Do not assume every setup cost disappears forever; revisions and new variants may create additional work.
