Define the combination first
A base-and-top-coat installation should name both products and their intended surfaces. QUARTZ99 is not hydrophobic by itself, so the selected outer layer determines much of the visible water behaviour. That does not make all possible combinations equally suitable.
Specify the desired finish and check any gloss, matte or film restrictions before choosing the top coat.
Resolve the intercoat instruction
The public QUARTZ99 page describes immediate top-coat application in its introduction while listing 40 minutes for tack-free/top-coat in the curing section. Because those statements differ, obtain the current written procedure from NANOLAB for the exact products and conditions.
Do not turn either statement into a universal instruction or improvise a compromise. The installer should know the preparation, sequence and waiting window before the base is applied.
Plan the completed system’s care
Record both application stages and provide aftercare that accounts for the top coat and any remaining base-cure requirements. The first wash is not determined merely by when the base feels dry. If later correction is needed, assess how it affects each layer. Review QUARTZ99 and the selected NANOLAB top-coat instructions, then keep the clarified procedure with the installation record.
