Three different permissions
A vehicle can be ready for release before it is ready for detergent washing, and washing can become permissible before full cure. Tack-free, initial cure, first wash and full cure describe different stages. Treating them as equivalent can lead to premature cleaning or unnecessary assumptions about performance.
The schedule depends on the formula and specified conditions. Do not shorten a waiting period simply because the panel feels dry.
Use a product-specific example
The current MATRIX information lists a first wash after 14 days and full cure at 30 days. BEAST and BEAST PRO also list 14 days to first wash and 30 days to full cure, while their initial stages differ. QUARTZ99 is a base system with aftercare affected by the selected top coat.
These examples illustrate why the actual installation record matters. The label and current instructions supplied for the product should guide the job.
Give dates at handover
Record when application finished, where the vehicle will be kept and the earliest permitted wash date. Explain what to do if rain, bird droppings or other contamination appears during early curing. Do not improvise aggressive cleaning on a fresh coating. Contact the installer promptly so contamination can be addressed with a method suitable for that curing stage.
