A renamed product or revised pack can disconnect new stock from earlier job records. Preserve exact historical identification while confirming what has actually changed.

Record the product names, identifiers and supplied change information. Retain the batch history used on earlier vehicles. Do not overwrite old job entries with the new name because that can obscure the product originally applied.
Distinguish a branding update from a confirmed formulation, instruction or packaging change. Obtain the relevant supplier information. Similar appearance and a new label do not establish either equivalence or a performance change.
Compare the current instructions with the workshop method. Evaluate relevant changes before transferring the established process to customer work. Keep a controlled trial and its result attached to the new product identification.
Use an internal cross-reference so staff can find jobs under either name while seeing the exact historical product. Update care documents when needed and keep previous versions available for customers who received them.
Keep the original entry and add a verified cross-reference. Historical records should still show what was supplied and used at the time.
