Final Inspection by a Second Detailer: Use Independent Observations

A second reviewer can improve quality control when their observations are recorded before discussing the first operator’s conclusions.

Define the review scope

Specify the clean surface condition, lighting and defect types relevant to the service. Give the reviewer the agreed customer scope and exclusions, but avoid leading them with a list of areas supposedly perfect. The review should evaluate the accepted endpoint, not demand a different service.

Record before comparing

Have each reviewer mark observations by panel and location. Then compare disagreements on the actual vehicle using the same conditions. A difference in lamp placement or a smearing towel can explain an apparent disagreement without proving either person careless.

Close findings explicitly

Decide which items need correction, which are retained intentionally and which require referral. Record the final acceptance and any subsequent treatment. Keep the review constructive by evaluating the process and evidence rather than rewarding only the reviewer who finds the most marks.

Frequently asked question

Should the second reviewer automatically require more polishing?

No. Additional abrasion needs a justified benefit within the agreed scope and surface limitations.
