A full polishing range.
From cutting and one-step correction to final finishing.
Reduce brand expectation in car polish trials with coded samples, while keeping product instructions and safety information available to the operator.

A famous label can influence how an operator judges wipe-off or finish. Coded samples can reduce that expectation in a workshop comparison, but they must not remove information needed for correct and safe use.
Have the trial coordinator assign codes and retain the product-to-code record. Keep the exact approved instructions, compatibility information and safety documentation available. If a product needs a distinct pad or working procedure, supply that procedure with its code.
Use appropriate, supplier-approved sample containers and clear identification. Do not put polishing liquids into unlabelled drinks bottles or containers that create an avoidable mix-up. Where concealing a brand would also conceal essential handling information, use a partially blinded assessment instead.
One approach is to let the trained operator know the products so the procedures remain correct, while a second person inspects coded test cells without knowing which system made each finish. Keep the lighting, residue-removal stage and target defects comparable.
The assessor should record correction, residual haze and unwanted marks before the codes are revealed. The operator separately records working time, pad management and cleanup. This preserves two different perspectives rather than collapsing them into an unexplained overall rating.
Compare observations with the procedure records after the trial. A preferred finish achieved through a much longer process has a different operational implication from an equal finish achieved quickly. An incorrectly used product is not a valid demonstration of its usual performance.
Repeat meaningful differences on additional representative areas. Coding reduces one source of bias; it does not make a small trial a universal ranking or prove a formula’s composition.
For test construction, see the pad-and-compound comparison. For evaluation of total workshop effort, use the complete heavy cut labour record.
