Use ceramic shampoo with a realistic hard-water routine, separating product residue from mineral deposits and planning the rinse and drying sequence.

A ceramic shampoo does not make dissolved minerals disappear from rinse water. Even a strongly water-repellent finish can show marks when water dries. In a hard-water area, the rinse and drying plan is as important as the choice of wash product.
Streaks after washing can involve product left on the surface, minerals from dried water or both. Record the shampoo, dilution and rinse method before changing anything. A mark that appears after drying is not automatically evidence that the shampoo damaged the coating.
Inspect a small area after an approved cleaning step. If the mark remains, identify whether further deposit treatment is appropriate for the underlying finish and coating.
Follow the product’s instructions for surface temperature and sunlight. Work in manageable sections where needed so shampoo and rinse water do not dry before the process is complete. Keep enough water and drying equipment available to finish the wash without an avoidable interruption.
Do not increase concentrate beyond the approved dose to compensate for hard water. That may introduce a second residue problem without solving the first.
If you use treated rinse water, understand what the treatment actually changes and maintain the equipment according to its instructions. Softening and deionisation are different processes; do not assume every filtered supply is free of dissolved solids.
Check trapped water around mirrors, badges and trim after the main drying pass. Late drips can create spots on an otherwise dry vehicle.
Change one part of the routine at a time, such as section size or drying sequence, while keeping product dosing consistent. Record where marks recur. A reliable hard-water wash routine produces a clear dry finish without excessive rubbing or repeated chemical correction. The ceramic shampoo is one component of that routine, not a replacement for managing the water that remains on the car.
