Respond to a dropped preparation towel without transferring floor grit to paint or continuing with contaminated equipment.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A preparation towel that falls on the workshop floor should leave the active paint-contact workflow. Shaking it out is not a dependable check that every abrasive particle has been removed. A spare clean towel is usually a much simpler response than investigating fresh marks later.
Set the dropped towel aside in a clearly separate place and replace it with a clean, suitable towel. Do not put it back on the clean trolley or beside coating applicators. Follow the towel’s appropriate cleaning and reassessment process before deciding whether it can be used again for a finish-sensitive task.
If the towel touched the paint after falling, record the area. Do not automatically assume damage occurred, but inspect before applying coating. Use suitable lighting and a clean process to assess any transferred contamination.
A towel may fall because the bench is crowded, the bottle arrangement is awkward or the installer has no clean place to put a used item. Correct that practical cause. Keep enough fresh towels available for the whole job, including an allowance for contamination or unexpected residue.
Separate cleaning towels, final-preparation towels and coating-levelling towels. A spare is only useful if its condition and intended role are known. Avoid rescuing a dropped towel with a quick spray of panel wipe; chemical residue removal does not make embedded grit harmless.
If the affected panel needs cleaning again, complete that work before the prescribed final wipe. Use NANOLAB PREP only as directed on compatible surfaces, with clean equipment. Check that the finish remains acceptable before restarting coating application.
For team training, make contamination reporting routine and straightforward. An installer should be able to replace a dropped towel without feeling pressured to hide the incident. The useful quality measure is a controlled clean process, not the smallest possible towel count.
