Wetting-Test Temperature: Record the Specimen Condition, Not Only the Room Setting

A room setpoint does not automatically establish the temperature of a specimen brought from another environment. Record the conditioning method relevant to the wetting test before comparing samples.

The key distinction

The laboratory should define how the liquid and specimen reach the required conditions. A recent transfer or local heat source can create a difference that the room display does not capture. Keep those events in the record.

Practical checks

  1. Follow the agreed conditioning procedure.
  2. Identify the relevant temperature measurement and timing.
  3. Record deviations or recent sample transfers.

Example

Illustrative example: one panel is tested shortly after arriving from a cold store while another has remained in the laboratory. A shared room-temperature entry does not prove equivalent specimen conditions.

Scope and limits

Do not invent a universal conditioning duration or apply heat to accelerate readiness. Use the laboratory's method and the coating's approved sample-preparation requirements.
