TGA measures mass change under a defined thermal program and atmosphere. Those conditions are essential to interpreting the curve.

Practical approach
Request the program, sample preparation and reported endpoints with the result.
Residue measured after one heating method may not be directly comparable with residue from another atmosphere or endpoint.
Decision limits
Do not equate every thermal residue value with the product's ordinary application solids or protective performance.
