Repeated Coating Support Contacts: Count Cases and Messages Separately

Several messages can concern one coating issue. Keep message count separate from case count so support demand and complaint frequency are not confused.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

A case identifier connects the initial enquiry, follow-up evidence and final response. Message volume can reveal handling effort, while case volume describes the number of distinct issues under the chosen definition.

Practical checks

  1. Define when contacts belong to the same case.
  2. Link follow-ups without erasing their timestamps.
  3. Report cases and contact effort with clear units.

Example

Arithmetic example: ten customers each send three messages about one issue. That is thirty messages and ten cases, not thirty independent product complaints.

Scope and limits

Do not merge genuinely different issues solely to reduce case counts. The classification should support accurate investigation and workload planning, with the original communications remaining traceable to their case history.
