Folded edges on stainless panels can hide residue and make coating removal less straightforward than on a flat sample. Before treating a fabricated component, identify which faces are accessible and whether cleaner or coating can collect in returns. Good access is part of the application plan, not a problem to solve with extra product.
Confirm the stainless finish and any existing treatment. Look at corners, folds, seams and attachment points for retained protective film, adhesive or fabrication residue. Do not assume that the underside of a return has the same preparation history as the visible face.
Use the fabricator's and coating supplier's approved cleaning process. Control liquid near joints and materials that may be hidden behind the panel. Avoid inserting hard tools into a folded seam or dismantling installed cladding without the appropriate procedure.
Dry and inspect the reachable surfaces. If liquid continues emerging from a return, resolve the source before coating. A clean broad face does not compensate for an edge that repeatedly releases residue.
Use an applicator that can reach the intended faces while allowing excess to be removed as specified. Work in manageable sections and inspect from several angles. Deposits beneath a lip can be missed from a normal standing viewpoint.
Leave inaccessible surfaces untreated unless a qualified access plan is available. Record the actual coverage for the client rather than describing the entire fabricated assembly as coated. During handover, show where cleaning can reach and where maintenance belongs with the fabricator or building service. Clear coverage boundaries make later appearance questions easier to investigate without assuming a uniform treatment of hidden faces.
