Plan a private label coating supplier transition without mixing product identities, carrying over unsupported claims or confusing existing customers.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Changing the manufacturer behind a private label coating is a product transition, even if the bottle design remains similar. Application behaviour, packaging compatibility and documentation may differ. Treat the new supply as a fresh approval rather than assuming the previous product’s claims and instructions carry over.
Collect the existing specification, approved labels, instructions, sample records and customer-facing claims. Identify remaining stock by batch and location. Keep records factual; do not describe a new sample as identical merely because its gloss or beading looks familiar.
Define what the replacement must preserve and what may change. Installer workflow, supported surfaces and aftercare can be more consequential than a minor packaging difference.
Use representative surfaces and intended users to compare the complete preparation, application and maintenance process. Record differences and revise instructions accordingly. Ask the new supplier for current technical and safety documentation for the exact supplied product.
Do not reuse a test report or duration claim from the previous formula unless its applicability to the new product has been established. Similar marketing language is not evidence of equivalence.
Choose a product code, revision or other clear identifier that distinguishes the transition. Plan how warehouse staff and resellers will avoid mixing instructions across old and new stock. Existing customers should be able to identify which product they own.
Set a practical process for support questions involving the earlier supply. A new supplier cannot be assumed to accept responsibility for products it did not manufacture.
Update packaging, product pages, training and reseller assets together. Explain changes that affect use without inventing a performance upgrade. If obligations to customers or partners are involved, resolve them through the relevant agreements and advice. A controlled transition protects the brand’s credibility by making the product history traceable rather than hiding a material change behind unchanged artwork.
