Preparing Label Artwork for a Private Label Coating

Prepare a clear artwork handoff for private label coatings with product identity, version control, readable instructions and packaging checks.

Label artwork is an operational document as well as a brand asset. An attractive design can still cause errors if the product name is ambiguous, the text is unreadable or the file no longer matches the approved formulation and package.

Separate fixed design from product information

Keep the brand style, product identity and technical text in distinct review layers. Obtain confirmed wording for the exact coating, its intended surfaces and its instructions. Do not copy application timing from another product because its bottle looks similar.

Use the actual label dimensions and leave space for any required variable information. Ask how batch identification will remain visible after the label is applied. If artwork will appear in several languages, manage each language as an approved version.

Review a physical-size proof

Print the proposed artwork at its intended size. Check contrast, small text, reading order and the distinction between product names. Test whether a user can find the instructions without rotating the bottle repeatedly or confusing a maintenance product with a base coating.

  • Confirm product and pack-size names against the order.
  • Check every instruction against the approved technical text.
  • Keep the file name, revision date and approval owner together.
  • Review market-specific label requirements with a qualified local adviser.

Freeze one approved version

Send a single final artwork package and retain its approval record. If the wording changes after approval, issue a new revision instead of quietly replacing a file with the same name. Packaging should not proceed while different teams are using different proofs.

Coordinate the handoff through NANOLAB’s private label service and connect it to the launch readiness checklist.
