Temporary event graphics can leave adhesive, sharp exposure boundaries and marks from removal. Resolve those three issues before choosing compound.

Assess the starting condition

Ask how long the graphics remained and how they were removed. Locate repainted areas and damaged paint before using adhesive cleaners. A visible outline that remains after residue removal may be a finish difference rather than material sitting on top.

A practical working method

  1. Photograph the dry panel before cleaning and mark the former graphic boundary.
  2. Trial a compatible adhesive-removal method in a small area, protecting trim and adjacent graphics.
  3. Inspect again after cleaner residue is removed; use polishing only for defects the test can actually improve.
  4. Compare the result across the boundary under consistent lighting and record any remaining outline.

Common mistake

Increasing abrasive strength to chase a colour difference treats all visible marks as scratches. It can make a thin or previously repaired area worse without producing a uniform colour.

What a useful result looks like

A useful result separates residue removal from paint correction and states what remains. If protection was removed during the process, plan the appropriate local preparation and renewal rather than hiding the difference with a temporary oily dressing.
