Plan coating access, preparation and inspection for perforated metal panels, including hole edges, finish differences and visible residue.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Perforated metal panels are difficult to judge from the front face alone. Hole edges, returns and the reverse side may have different access, contamination and finish coverage. A nano coating process should define which surfaces it can reliably prepare, treat and inspect.
Record the base metal and the exposed finish, such as paint, powder coating or bare stainless steel. Ask whether the hole edges received the same finishing process as the visible face. A cut or punched edge may require separate assessment.
Note the panel’s function. Acoustic panels, ventilation grilles and decorative screens can have different restrictions on added products and cleaning. Do not obstruct openings or alter a specialised assembly without approval.
Separate the face, hole walls, reverse and perimeter returns in the work scope. If access is limited after installation, determine whether treatment is better evaluated before assembly. Removal and refitting should follow the panel system’s requirements.
Avoid a process that allows product to collect inside holes where it cannot be levelled or inspected. More liquid is not a reliable solution to poor access. Applicator choice and working area should be demonstrated on a matching sample.
Check the sample from the front and reverse, using light that reveals residue at the openings. Compare dry colour and sheen after the prescribed cure. Look for streaks following runoff paths or visible deposits around the lower edge of each hole.
Include a normal cleaning cycle in the trial. The panel may look acceptable immediately after application but prove difficult to clean without leaving cloth fibres or cleaner inside the perforations.
Use a sample photograph and a short inspection list for the installation team. Record any excluded areas and the approved maintenance tools. A transparent coating should not be used to conceal uneven original finish or exposed-edge corrosion. A useful specification tells the installer exactly which surfaces need treatment and gives them a realistic way to confirm that the result is clean and uniform.
