Assess the starting condition

Assess roof access, stable working platforms and the cable route. Follow tool and platform instructions, keeping electrical equipment and connections suitable for the workspace. Height changes can alter both operator control and inspection angles.

A practical working method

  1. Arrange the cable so it cannot drag over paint or snag on trim.
  2. Work from a stable permitted position without stretching beyond comfortable control.
  3. Move the cable and platform deliberately between sections.
  4. Reinspect nearby finished panels when changing the setup.

Common mistake

Using one hand to rescue a snagging cable while continuing machine work creates unstable control. Draping a dirty cable over a shoulder does not guarantee it stays clear of paint.

What a useful result looks like

A useful setup gives consistent pad contact and a clean route around the vehicle. If the roof cannot be reached and inspected reliably, change the access arrangement before correction rather than compensating with more aggressive settings.
