Coating-removal towels and ordinary wash towels can contain very different residues.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge
Coating-removal towels and ordinary wash towels can contain very different residues. Their similar appearance does not make them suitable for the same laundry load. Decide whether each item is reusable before planning the wash, using the coating's handling guidance and the towel's care instructions together.
Identify the products used on the towels. Keep unknown or hardened coating residue out of the clean finishing supply while its suitability for reuse is assessed. A soft-looking pile may conceal stiff patches or particles that ordinary laundering does not remove.
Separate dirty utility cloths from towels intended for sensitive paint. Follow product instructions for chemical-contaminated items, including disposal where required. Do not invent a universal soaking recipe or assume that stronger detergent makes an unsuitable item reusable.
For towels approved for laundering, use the specified care process and inspect the machine and detergent choices. The Rag Company's care guidance, for example, excludes fabric softener for its microfiber towels and advises appropriate low-temperature drying. Use the instructions relevant to the actual towel rather than transferring every detail between brands.
After drying, check the complete towel, including edges and folded areas. Look for retained particles, stiff sections, unusual drag and residue transfer during an appropriate test. A pleasant smell is not evidence of finishing suitability.
Return accepted items to their labelled category and keep rejected items separate. Track recurring failures by product and laundry batch so the workshop can improve its process. Where coating towels are designated single-use by the applicable instructions, plan enough stock into the job instead of depending on recovery after application.
