Estimate hotel shower coating value from actual cleaning events, accepted time savings and occupancy rather than the total number of rooms.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A hotel’s room count is not the number of showers cleaned every day. Occupancy, stay length and housekeeping policy determine how often glass receives the relevant cleaning task. Use those events to estimate a coating programme’s operational value.
Separate a quick daily wipe, a departure clean and a periodic restoration task. Measure each against the same accepted finish before and after treatment. A time saving in one task should not be multiplied by all housekeeping visits unless it genuinely applies to them.
Consider forty trial rooms at 75% occupancy, with one relevant glass-cleaning event per occupied room per day. That gives thirty events daily. An illustrative saving of two minutes per accepted clean produces sixty minutes of released labour per day. At a hypothetical labour cost of 18 currency units per hour, the gross time value is 18 units daily.
| Input | Example |
|---|---|
| Rooms × occupancy | 40 × 0.75 = 30 occupied rooms |
| Events × minutes saved | 30 × 2 = 60 minutes |
| Hours × labour rate | 1 × 18 = 18 units |
These are planning assumptions, not measured NANOLAB results. Replace them with the property’s records and include weekends, seasonal demand and the actual cleaning schedule.
Saving an hour does not automatically reduce payroll by an hour. Staff may use the time for other work. Report released capacity separately from costs that genuinely disappear. Include installation downtime, training, maintenance products and any recurring inspection or renewal work.
Recalculate using lower occupancy and smaller time savings. A project that works only under the most optimistic assumptions needs stronger evidence. Also check whether quality remains consistent: faster cleaning with more guest complaints is not a successful saving.
The decision should combine measured task performance with realistic event frequency. That produces a defensible operational case and identifies which assumptions need validation during the hotel pilot.
