Painted and Lacquered Home Surfaces: Coating Compatibility

A painted cabinet or lacquered panel has a finish system that may be sensitive to preparation chemicals and abrasion. Its appearance alone does not establish suitability for a nano coating.

Identify the finish and its age

Ask the maker or installer what coating system is present and whether it has fully cured. Record repairs, refinishing and previous polishes. Newly painted surfaces should follow their own return-to-service and treatment instructions before any additional protective product is considered.

Check the complete workflow

Confirm both the preparation method and the protective coating, not merely the final product. A cleaner that works on bare glass or metal may be unsuitable for paint. Assess an approved test for colour, sheen and feel under the room’s normal lighting.

Keep expectations specific

Do not use nano coating to conceal peeling, soft or damaged paint. Refer those problems to the finish specialist. If treatment is approved, provide a simple care method and document the exact surface. Avoid transferring that approval to other painted furniture with an unknown or different finish.
