Ceramic Coating Glossy Black Pillars and Trim
Assess glossy black exterior trim separately from paint and use careful preparation and inspection before selecting a coating.

Glossy black pillars and exterior trim can reveal fine marks very clearly. Some are painted or clear-coated; others have a different surface construction. Their appearance alone does not establish that a paint-polishing or coating process is suitable.
Identify and inspect the material
Check the vehicle information where available and document scratches, cracking or previous repairs. Keep rubber seals and adjacent matte trim in the surface map. Avoid treating every black component as the same material.
Confirm product compatibility before applying cleaners or protection. Use a discreet approved test where needed. Do not assume that a product suitable for exterior plastic automatically covers every glossy decorative finish.
Minimise unnecessary contact
Clean gently with suitable tools and separate grit from the surface before wiping. If correction is considered, assess the construction and available material first. Repeated polishing can be inappropriate on a thin or unknown decorative layer.
During coating, use clean applicators and towels and inspect the narrow boundaries carefully. Strong reflections can hide residue until the viewing angle changes.
Explain realistic protection
A coating does not make a delicate trim piece immune to towel marks or scratches. Provide careful washing and drying instructions and discourage dry wiping to remove dust.
