Preventing Cross-Contamination During Coating Application
Keep coating bottles, applicators and towels organised to avoid mixing products or transferring contamination between surfaces.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge
Cross-contamination can occur without visibly mixing two liquids. A towel used on an unprepared panel, an applicator placed on a dirty surface or residue around a bottle opening can compromise a controlled installation process.
Separate preparation from application
Create distinct areas for used preparation materials and clean coating tools. Close containers when they are not in use and keep them identified. Do not place applicators on vehicle trim, the floor or a dusty workbench between sections.
If several NANOLAB products are used, allocate tools according to the approved process. Similar-looking bottles and towels should have readable identifiers rather than relying on memory.
Keep the bottle handling routine simple
Follow the product’s dispensing instructions and avoid returning used material to its container. Keep the opening and closure managed as specified. Do not dilute or combine products to recover residue unless the exact procedure is explicitly approved.
When an applicator or towel is dropped or its history becomes uncertain, remove it from the clean workflow. Saving one consumable is not worth introducing unknown grit or cured residue to prepared paint.
Verify at handover between stages
Before coating begins, confirm that preparation is complete and the correct tools are ready. During application, separate first-removal and final-inspection towels where the product method calls for them.
Use towel organisation and coating workstation preparation as practical references. A clear tool sequence supports the product instructions and reduces avoidable residue problems during NANOLAB installation.
