Sunlight can reveal finishing defects that were difficult to see indoors, but outdoor inspection introduces changing light, contamination and panel temperature. Use it as a planned verification step rather than an uncontrolled reason to repolish the car in the sun.
Complete the finishing test and compatible residue removal under the established workshop inspection conditions. Record the accepted area and any retained defects. This provides a baseline for interpreting what is seen outside.
Move the vehicle safely to a suitable inspection position and account for traffic, access and the surrounding environment. The aim is to view the finish, not perform an abrasive process under conditions the product does not support.
Observe the relevant panels as the reflection moves across them. Compare any newly noticed marks with the original defect record. A mark visible in sunlight may have been present all along; visibility alone does not establish when it was created.
Do not touch dusty paint repeatedly during the inspection. If outdoor contamination lands on the surface, return to an appropriate cleaning method before further contact or correction.
Photograph and locate any area that fails the agreed standard. Return the vehicle to suitable working conditions and reproduce the issue under an appropriate light. Let panel conditions stabilise as required by the products before considering rework.
Avoid broad conclusions such as ‘the whole car needs another finish pass’ when one local area is the concern. Diagnose whether the issue is haze, a retained scratch, residue or a camera artefact.
Keep the outdoor check consistent with the original service scope. Sunlight can improve verification, but it should not silently convert an agreed enhancement into an unlimited defect-removal promise.
The useful output is a documented confirmation or a specific rework item. A planned sunlight inspection strengthens the finishing process when it reveals actionable information without introducing uncontrolled handling or unnecessary abrasion.
