Finish Polish after Rotary Work: Check Holograms from Several Directions

Hologram-like trails after rotary work can be difficult to see from one fixed position.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Hologram-like trails after rotary work can be difficult to see from one fixed position. A finish-polish check should examine the surface as the light and viewing angle change. One attractive reflection is not enough to confirm that the residual pattern has been resolved.

Establish the pattern before refinement

Clean the surface compatibly and inspect from several useful directions. Locate the trails relative to panel landmarks and record the views that reveal them. Separate broad moving patterns from isolated scratches and residue streaks.

Do not assume every streak after rotary work is a hologram. A film that shifts with wiping or a camera flare requires a different investigation. Confirm a stable surface concern before applying another abrasive stage.

Test the finishing combination

Use a supported clean pad, liquid and machine method on a limited representative area. Follow the manufacturer’s procedure and avoid carrying cutting residue into the test through shared pads or towels.

After residue removal, reproduce the original views and add nearby angles to check the whole treated area. The test should show reduced residual pattern without new fine marring or a conspicuous boundary around the patch.

Verify beyond the centre of the panel

Inspect curves, section joins and areas where the operator changed direction or reach. A good result on the easiest central area does not establish the same finish on every contour.

If a pattern persists, review pad condition, compatibility and contact before extending the cycle. Do not repeatedly refine uncertain paint solely to make one difficult photograph look perfect.

Keep the accepted method and the useful inspection positions in the record. A second inspector should be able to reproduce the check rather than depend on the first operator’s memory.

Finish polish after rotary work is complete when the cleaned surface meets the agreed standard across the relevant viewing directions. The purpose of moving the inspection view is to expose remaining work honestly, not to search endlessly for an angle that justifies more abrasion.
